  1. Proverbs 18: 22 tells me I’m a good thing and because my husband found ME, he obtains FAVOR! (He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord. – Proverbs 18:22 NIV) Ladies as Godly women, we are POWERFUL!

My husband, Thomas, and I have been doing this beautiful thing called marriage for SEVEN years! We’ve had our up, downs, ins, outs, in betweens, but we never put God on the back burner OR allowed divorce to be an option. Keeping God at the forefront is the ONLY way we’re still married.

I am expecting a change in MY attitude towards my husband. For so long, I tried to change Thomas, but I was only delaying my blessing because I was in God’s way. Once I moved out of the way, God began a NEW thing in Thomas. He became MY David-a man after God’s own heart. My 1st Lady (Regena Williams) told me, “he may not be perfect, baby, but he’s perfect for you! God blessed you with His best!” This has always been in my heart to live by.

I honestly think my biggest challenge will be ensuring my book is not left out on my desk. Ladies please ensure you keep me on my toes about this. LOL I am excited and ready to be an even greater blessing in Thomas’ life.

    Peace & Blessings,

    Chantel J

    1. Chantel...our message at church was about... "Imperfect people are perfect people." Ladies, we have to realize that we are perfect through Christ! God used Moses (an imperfect man) to do his perfect will! We are the perfect women for our husbands!

    2. Amen to that Chamel. You must share your notes. ;)

  2. Chantel u didn't have to put me on blast lol. I was excited :D

My hubby, Andrew and I have been married for seven years. Seven years filled with laughter, anger, heartache, love, passion, distance and fun, but through it all we've never let outside influences interfere or break apart what God put together. I'm not perfect & neither is he but our faith & the promise we stood before God and made, are far more important & we refuse to let divorce be a thought in our relationship.

With this project, I'm expecting to become a better listener and be more observant to the needs of my husband. My independence has become an obstacle that I hope to overcome in a way so that I can allow my husband to be the man he was made to be. I expect to rekindle that flame so that our good days outweigh the bad days.

I, like many of you, just hope not to get caught reading the book and ruin the fun of it all. I can't wait to take this journey with you all. This is all for a great cause. No right or wrong or judging here. Just ready to continue my life with my best friend as husband & wife.

  3. I am the wife of an awesome, caring, and patient man of six years...soon seven in June! Mother of two handsome, energetic, never stop saying "mama" boys lol. I'm striving daily to be a Proverbs 31 Woman and to "trust in the Lord with all my heart and to not lean on my understanding, but in all my ways seek him and allow him to direct my paths" Proverbs 3:5-6.

After six years of marriage, I have felt lately that my husband and I have slipped out of that "honey moon or all about me and you" phase and have gotten distracted with all of our roles and responsibilities. The challenge for me is to find balance within it all, but first recognize God as the head, my husband, family, and everything else. I'm expecting a shift in my attitude and my view towards my husband. God has ordained marriage to be a blessing and I expect and want all that God has for us!

My biggest challenge is to stay positive no matter what my husband response or attitude is. If you are like me, I'm guilty of treating my husband depending on how he treats me or what he's done. So wrong..so when you know better...you do better! I want to step outside my comfort zone and bless my husband and my marriage! It will take work, but anything in life takes work and what you put in is what you get out!

    Many Blessings...Chamel

    2. When we have children it is easy for us to push our husbands to the back of the line. Its not that we do it on purpose, but it is something that just happens. I have to do a better job of pushing him to the front of the line.

  4. My husband and I have been married for four years, five in May. We have been together for a total of 10 years, so we know each other pretty well. He is a very loving and caring man and I could not have asked for a better father for my girls, who are 3 and 8. I have tried to live by Proverbs 31 and be the woman, wife, and mother decribed in the verses. And as we all know we think that we are doing our best, but are we really?

I have to admit that our marriage has lost some its luster because of the day to day struggles that we have. Many of us have children and we know that it can be a struggle to get food on the table and children in the bed. So I must admit that at the end of the night I am more focused on sleeping than cuddling. So I am looking to change my attitude and become more focused on him that the bed.

I am hoping that this experience will help me become more positive and more attentive to the needs of my husband. I am very excited to share these experiences with other women of God and I hope that together we can become better women and better wives.

  5. Let me first start off by saying how overjoyed I am to be in the presence of women who desire to be in Godly marriages! We spend so much energy investing in other components of our lives but often times neglect one of the most important - our marriage (that sacred convenant we made before God).

My husband, Aaron, and I have been married for almost 5 years (August 16th is our anniversary). As many of you have alluded, the journey has not always been 'peachy' and 'lovey dovey'...lol. We've been through so many things in these short 5 years that many folks would potentially have already gone to divorce court....BUT GOD (I'll share some of my testimony at some point)! The common thread that has kept us communicating and loving each other past our trials is our relationship with Christ - period! Our love for Christ has constantly forced us to check our egos, selfishness, and stubborness at the door! Let me just say that I LOVE MY MAN! Neither of us claim to be perfect but I'm thankful he's the man God made for me and I for him! He's literally my best friend and one of my heros!

My prayer is that this challenge will help with one of my theme's for the year - CONSISTENCY! I want to ensure that I'm being the wife God has called me to be everyday....not just when I feel like it...its important to walk in love and be that Proverbs 31:10 woman during those not so 'peachy' days as well! I'm looking forward to this journey with the rest of you and can't wait to hear the awesome testimonies of how God has transformed our marriages - more important - our attitudes!

    1. I understand about CONSISTENCY! I'm expecting that we all can keep each other accountable and consistent. By doing so, I know and expect that we will form some good habits! :)

I love your comment...."I LOVE MY MAN!" I can sense that love way in Nashville! **Love you EB

    2. MY GOD! This post.....(that's all I will say). Ebony thanks for joining in. I love to hear the awesomeness from those who have decided to keep God at the front door of their marriage. You are so right about others would have thrown in the towel and divorced....BUT GOD (think I'll shout right there) He has kept us through it all. I am excited to hear more from you as well as the rest of the ladies. ;)

  7. Okay first of all, thank you ladies for setting this challenge up and for giving me the opportunity to be a part of it. And like all of you, I am very excited to take this journey with you gals. Here we go! :) Hope I don't end up writing a novel...haha! :)

My husband and I have a beautiful 4yr old daughter and have been married for 6MONTHS ( but feels more like years)...we both like to say we're still newlyweds until we've reached that 1 year. LOL. We've known each other for almost 7 years and have been together for 3 years before we finally made it "forever with our vows". This is my second marriage and his first and we are in it for the LONG HAUL. I must admit, I got married the first time for all the wrong reasons and it didn't last. The experience I had left me with doubts, low self esteem, and hindered me to see beyond my relationship than what it is (hence why it took me longer to say "I DO" again) but eventually I had to snap out of it and move forward. And yes, none but God and the few people He brought into my life helped me along the way. (That would be one of my testimony to share one day):) In my book, my husband is amazing! in other words, he's my JACK OF ALL TRADES!...far from perfect but that's what he is to me and our daughter. With these past few years, we've had our ups and downs, sideways, backwards and forwards but till this day, God has brought us this far and I pray continuously to keep it going.**What God has brought together, let no man put asunder**

With this challenge, I pray and expect to have a change in my attitudes where it is mostly NEEDED!. Between my husband and I, it is mostly me who seems to swerve to the left with my thoughts and attitude. Sometimes even when I know something is MY fault, he is always the one who seeks my forgiveness. Yah, NOT COOL! Although I don't try to, it sounds very much like I take him for granted and yes, I MUST STOP THAT! whew! I know that with Gods guidance and you ladies keeping us accountable, I expect to do better in LOVING, RESPECTING, and HONORING my husband the way I should. Not just when I feel like it but DAILY!!!

I think my biggest challenge would be....following through full force and not just at my convenience. But since I took this challenge with purpose and determination, I pray that I stay on the right track to being a better woman a better wife and that best friend that my husband deserves...so HELP ME GOD! :-)

@ Chantel, yes! I can say the same for you too. I know this has nothing to do with the post but Lord know I never expected to be a part of your sisterhood somewhere down the road after our meeting in Japan. :) God definitely works in His own mysterious way and timing. Love you both and hugs!

    Hello Ladies
First of all, I would like to thank God for putting this ministry in Chamel and Chantel’s heart (my daughters; lol) and to include their mom. They are so passion about marriage been so positive and being the Proverb 31 woman. Right now it seems if I am the old head in this group but as the old saying “you never to old to learn a few tricks”.
Glen and I have been married this year for 25 years but have known each other 30 plus years. We are the proud parents of five daughters. Even though we may not have done things in order the way God has planned for having a family but I thank God that He put us together. My hubby is caring, loving, awesome and a great provider and a Man of God.
I must admit that it hasn’t always been easy because we had our share of bumps in the road. I must admit that communication is a very important part in the marriage because it will keep down a lot of confusion.
Now that we are almost empty nesters (Jasmine is still in the house), THP will help bring back some of the ___________ into the marriage.  You put things on the back burn when you get married because of family, job to name a fewand by end of day you don’t want to be bother with. It will be a struggle some days and I must piggy back off what Chamel said to stay positive no matter how my hubby respond or what his attitude is. I am guilty as well of treating him the way he treats me. So, younger ladies put those ideas out there. LOL
My prayer is that God continues to change my heart (our hearts) because when the heart is changed, you will begin to see the work of God manifested.
"trust in the Lord with all my heart and to not lean on my understanding, but in all my ways seek him and allow him to direct my paths" Proverbs 3:5-6.

    1. Hi ma....I'm so happy that you are joining us on this journey. We are truly blessed to have you and dad as our parents and for raising us to know God. As you said, we aren't perfect and that marriage takes work. I pray that we all will allow him to move and to shed new light at how we view our husbands!

Look forward to you sharing your experiences and your feedback on new tricks...well...chantel and I may not want to know them all...LOL Just kidding...ya'll had some tricks with five girls...LOL I'm stopping now....love you ma and glad we can go through this challenge together!

Blessings to you and dad.

  9. Hello Ladies,

First off, Thank you Chantel for adding to me the group and I finally figured out how to post:) I am sitting on edge, nervous, and excited all in one because I truly have A LOT to learn about marriage.

My husband and I have been together for 11 years although married for almost 6 years (May). Like some marriages we have had our share of bumps, pot holes, hills, curves, and detours in finding absolute happiness and completeness that we seek but like everything in life it's a working progress. We have two awesome handsome boys.

This past year our marriage has taken a turn in the negative way and we are still trying to work out the kinks. It doesn't help that he was deployed and then we moved to a place neither one of us are content with. I have never been a spiritual person however I do believe in God but I failed to have a connection that I truly need to have which is also a working progress on my part.

My biggest obstacle is not allowing my past and negative situations dictate my attitude and actions which has been my problem all my life but everyday is growth for me and I am working on changing more of myself instead of trying to change my husband into the man that I want him to become. He is a wonderful person and has good intentions. I need to focus more on me and build a closer bond/relationship with God. I have patience issues when it comes to certain aspects of my life and marriage-basically I want things my way when I want them.

My prayer for this project is for God to allow me to keep an open mind and actually go through every challenge without having a negative attitude and continue to work on me. My prayer is also for my husband to be more open and that this project will bless him the way God intended to. My final prayer is that even after this project our love will become stronger than ever before and let no man, women, or object come between us!

    1. Kenya...so glad that you are here and was determined to post! Trusting God 100% and having determination is the key. With anything in life, if we focus on it and determined to succeed, we will. We have to but our minds on Christ and expect his greatness.

I'm so glad that you are pressing and seeking to grow in Christ. We all have to remember that he expects progress and not perfection. He just need faith...size of a mustard seed...that 'ol tiny seed. God is going to do a new thing in all of us, but we have to follow Romans 12:2 to "renew our minds daily...and not to be conform to this world".

My prayer is that we all will let go of the past and our circumstances and give it all to God. Let's focus on him and allow him to do the changing!

    2. Hey Kenya!!! So glad you're here with us. I totally agree with Chamel. When we allow Christ to be the center of it ALL there is nothing impossible. We will be praying for your ability to see past your past and focus on what God has in store for your marriage. We're all here to support and love on one another. Let's move forward in this challenge with a victorious mindset. ;)
